What is Star Wars Uncut: Directors Cut? Why do I care?

If you are a Star Wars fan you might already know about the Fan created version of Star Wars IV: New Hope.  Over at www.starwarsuncut.com the entire film was divided into 15 second scenes. Fans, average people like you and me, were given the task to take a scene and recreate it in there own way.  473 individual scene’s are edited together to re-create Star Wars. This accomplishment took 3 years.  So why do I care?  This project was done by fans, many fans.  The people who organized this project (Creative Genius Casey Pugh) managed to win an Emmy.  This is a big win by Internet users and proves to the world that with properly manged a creative idea can be powered across the globe by people who never ever meet in real life. The term is crowd-sourced and I hope to see and get involved in creative projects like this one in the future.

3D printing? 3D without the glasses!

We have 3D TV’s that you need those stupid glasses for.  Who would want to spend all that money when you can actually buy a 3D printer?  What is a 3D printer?  It’s a printer that actually makes things.  A printer prints ink to paper, while a 3D printer puts one line of plastic on top of each other until a solid product is created.  The MakerBot Replicator is a new 3D printer that makes all this much easier.  A fun toy for those who can afford the $1,749 price tag!

Enjoy making your own toys and be the only one on your block who has a 3D printer!

Transparent LCD Screen

CES has come and past.  I wasn’t in Vegas this year but have taken a look at some of the golden ones that this show has introduced.  One of the best future technologies is something that we have seen for years in science fiction. A window that becomes your computer or TV screen.  Samsung has introduced a prototype of this.  While we are a long ways off from having the in our living rooms we could see businesses around the world use this great innovated technology soon.

Take a look at the video:

iPad Snow Board?

These Snow Board Builders… or whatever you call a person who builds snow boards, have paid homage to the Great Steve Jobs.  Many people have done this over the past couple of weeks and I am posting the most creative and interesting ones.  Watch this video to see ‘Signal Snowboard’ (http://www.signalsnowboards.com) create a functional snowboard that has the design of apple and includes a functional iPad.  Also take a look at there cool designed Snow Boards.

1.21 gigawatts of electricity will melt this DeLorean

It seems the world has been morphed into a Lego’s paradise.  Yes 1.21 Gigawatts of electricity will melt the Lego DeLorean!  But it is a toy you will love to pieces.  As a kid I would spend hours creating magical things with my Lego sets, however they were just bright color blocks and everything I built kind of resembled the previous model.  Today there is amazing things you cad do with Lego’s and over at www.ichibantoys.com they bring ‘Back to the Future’ and other childhood memories(Batman and Star Trek!!) to Lego life.  The only thing I would add to this would be the radiation suites.

Intro to Google Apps

This a quick post about Google Apps.  Google Apps allows your small business or Sole-Practice look and feel much bigger.  Google Apps when setup properly allows the following:

  • Your own email with your own domain yourname@yourcompany.com
  • Your own company calendar – equvlent to the big corporate company calandars that you can work with your employees, plus access anywhere with any computer or smartphone.
  • Access to google docs to easily share and collabarate on projects with employees or clients.
  • Using your email address yourname@yourcompany.com as your login to all google products plus hundreds of other helpful products through there Marketplace.

Having google apps has helped my clients manage there technology by giving them a little taste of a big business.  I have been using this technology for years and has made my life much easier.  The good things is google has a free version for ten or less accounts.  You do not need an account for general emails like Sales or Info at your company, just use an alias or Group.  (Alias is sending that email to one person, a group is sending that email to a group of people.)

Google Apps is a great start to organize and get your business on a Technology Eco-System.  This is just the start.  Take a look at googles website on Google Apps.  The email interface of it is Gmail.  If your interested in moving your company over to Google Apps, drop me a line (contact info on the bottom of every page) or leave a comment. The initial setup is a little technical and there is so many things Google Apps can do.

Look forward working with you and posting much more detailed information on this wonderful tool.
